‘Top Chef Colorado’– Episode 6 Betting Odds

–’Top Chef Colorado’ is the title of the 15th season of the ‘Top Chef’ franchise.

–The finale of ‘Top Chef Colorado’ was filmed in Aspen during the Food and Wine Classic.

–Episode 6 of ‘Top Chef Colorado’ will air on January 11, 2018 at 10:00 PM Eastern on Bravo

Strange episode of ‘Top Chef Colorado’ saw one contestant eliminated, one previously eliminated contestant return to the competition *and* a chef from a previous season added to the roster. In addition, the main challenge was outdoor cooking which during the winter in Colorado is not necessarily an easy process.

So here’s how it shook out–first of all, the ‘Quickfire Challenge’ was replaced by an impromptu ‘Last Chance Kitchen’ competition that brought Claudette Zepeda-Wilkins (Eliminated in Episode 2) back to the competition along with Lee Anne Wong who was part of the competition way back in Season 1.

The main challenge had the contestants head out to the Colorado wilderness–here’s how ‘Food & Wine’ described it:

The cheftestants are taking to the wilderness! They must camp overnight and prepare a dish using native Colorado ingredients in the great outdoors. The pantry table of ingredients is wheeled in, and the chefs must plan smart because the ingredients that they take from there are the only ones they will have in the middle of the woods. Oh, also, Padma warns the chefs that it looks like snow so they have to be prepared to work in the elements.

That leaves us with these updated ‘Top Chef’ power ratings. I’ve adapted the same format that I used for ‘Project Runway’ this season giving points for ‘High’ finishes in the elimination challenge and subtracting points for ‘Low’ finishes. It worked reasonably well for ‘Project Runway’ until the finale and was particularly effective in revealing ‘false favorites’. It might not be quite as accurate for ‘Top Chef’ due to the absence of a weekly challenge ‘runner up’ for both the winner and the elimination ‘victim’. I debated giving more emphasis to superlative and substandard performances (3 for a win, 2 for ‘High’ and -2 for ‘Low) but we’ll roll with this scoring criteria for now. I don’t have any good ideas on how I can come up with a proper valuation for the new/returning contestants so for now I’ll leave them on the sidelines and revisit things next week:

WIN = +2
HIGH = +1
IN = 0
LOW = -1
