‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 10 Episode 3 Betting Odds

–RuPaul became a media sensation in the mid 1990s with the hit song ‘Supermodel’.

– Now in it’s 10th season, ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ shown on VH1.

– Episode 3 of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 10 will air on April 5 at 8 PM Eastern.

Another queen bit the dust in Episode 2 of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 10 with Kalorie Karbdashian Williams sent off. She was our favorite to be eliminated in this episode at +150. Miz Cracker remains the favorite to take the crown at the end of the season.

The biggest storyline for the episode was an explosive conflict in what appears to be a long simmering feud between show favorite Miz Cracker and Aquaria. The New York Times episode recap helpfully informs us that the heat between the two dates back awhile:

These two New York girls have a longstanding rivalry, rooted in their striking physical resemblance and tendency to be confused for one another, and in a flashback to last week’s Untucked, they stewed and sneered and spat over who wore some yellow dress first.

So best I can figure it’s a drag queen version of the classic feud between the legendary ‘Nature Boy’ Buddy Rogers and then upstart ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair. You know that means before the end of the season I’ll use the line ‘To be the queen you have to beat the queen‘.

The NYT writeup continued with writer Amanda Duarte explaining that–surprisingly–this feud between two rival drag queens involves nothing of any particular significance:

The feud is so petty and tedious, I refused to watch the excerpted episode in which its finer points were presumably elucidated, as an act of self-care. Ladies, can’t you see that you are long-lost twins, and the workroom is the summer camp at which you will find each other and plot a trap to reunite your drag parents?

I generally enjoyed Duarte’s writeup and I’ll defer to her drag queen expertise but her observation about Miz Cracker and Aquaria being ‘long lost wins’ is *precisely* why they are feuding in the first place. This is pro wrestling booking 101 and it sure looks to be a similar deal here. There’s a great quote by Mason Cooley–he was a ‘witty aphorist’ at a time in America when that was actually a job description–that goes: “Art begins in imitation and ends in innovation”. That can also be applied to wrestling feuds and storylines.
