Betting Odds on Super Bowl Pregame Props

–The Super Bowl is the biggest single day betting event of the year for North American facing sportsbooks.

–Bookmakers try to come up with increasingly imaginative props–including odds on the pregame show.

–The 2017 Super Bowl Pregame features an interview with Donald Trump.

The Super Bowl has grown way beyond being merely the championship game of the National Football League. It’s reached the point where its somewhere between ‘de facto national holiday’ and ‘full blown extravaganza’. If there’s any component of Super Bowl Sunday that underscores what a bloated event it is circa 2017 it’s the pregame show. Actually, it’s no longer *just* the pregame show–it’s an entire day of ‘Super Bowl related programming’ weighing in at seven and a half hours from start to kick off. For the masochists out there here’s the full Fox TV Super Bowl programming schedule (all times Eastern):

11 a.m. — The Road to the Super Bowl, tracking the season for the Patriots and Falcons.
12 p.m. — The Undisputed Super Bowl Special with Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless.
1 p.m. — FOX Super Bowl Kickoff with Colin Cowherd.
2 p.m. — FOX Super Bowl pregame show with Terry Bradshaw, Curt Menefee, Howie Long, Michael Strahan and Jimmy Johnson.
6:30 p.m. — Super Bowl LI.

The Super Bowl pregame show beginning at 2:00 PM Eastern is brutal due to its duration alone. First of all, it’s not like it’s going to be insightful analysis. A number of these analysts are very ‘football smart’ and are capable of it but being the Super Bowl it’ll be a lowest common denominator preview of the teams, storylines, probably a ‘feel good’ story or two and an interview with President Donald Trump conducted by Bill O’Reilly. The Trump interview would have at least had the potential of being compelling television but it’ll be taped and edited meaning that anything contentious or controversial will get left on the cutting room floor.

The 12 PM show with Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe and the 1 PM show will Colin Cowherd sound downright miserable. Many people–myself included–find Cowherd and Bayless among the most irritating and painful to watch talking heads in the sports media business and that covers a lot of ground. Even if you like these guys what are they going to talk about? You guessed it–the same irritating observations and pseudo-controversial ‘takes’ that they do in their ‘regularly scheduled programming’.

At least there’s a few things to bet on. Here’s a selection of Super Bowl pregame proposition betting odds that can hopefully keep you awake and lucid until kickoff:
