WWE No Mercy 2017 Pro Wrestling Betting Odds

–‘No Mercy 2017’ will feature the WWE ‘Raw’ brand.

–This is the 13th ‘No Mercy’ event and will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles

–‘No Mercy 2017’ will take place on Sunday, September 24 beginning at 8 PM Eastern on the WWE Network

Another WWE pro wrestling PPV is set for Sunday, September 24 though it will be significantly lower in profile than the August ‘Summer Slam’ event. ‘No Mercy 2017’ will feature the WWE’s ‘Raw’ brand and while it’s not exactly setting the wrestling world abuzz with anticipation it does have a couple of things working for it. Most significantly, there are just 7 matches on the card as opposed to the 13 (including the pre-show matches) at ‘Summer Slam’. That card felt rushed and somewhat haphazardly booked but the less ambitious scale of ‘No Mercy 2017’ means that WWE bookers can give every match a reasonable amount of time. At least that’s how it should work in theory. Next up on the WWE’s schedule will be ‘Hell in a Cell’ on October 8 headlined by a title match between Jinder Mahal and Shinsuke Nakamura.

‘No Mercy 2017’ doesn’t really have a match that is expected to tear down the house. John Cena and Roman Reigns are capable of putting on a very good match but it’s hard to see them turning in a classic. Cena’s work is down from last year when he put up a 4 star plus match every time out. The upside of lower expectations is that there’s not much pressure on the workers and they could respond to that type of environment. Realistically speaking, this is a PPV where most pro wrestling aficonados expect very little to happen that has any longterm significance. There’s a good chance that all four title matches on the card will see the champions retain. There’s historically been something of a creative ‘lull’ after Summer Slam before the buildup starts for the next major PPV which will be the ‘Survivor Series’ on November 19, 2017 from the Toyota Center in Houston.

One of the more cogent observations on this PPV came from a wrestling expert of my acquaintance who thinks that since there’s little the WWE needs to ‘accomplish’ in this PPV from a storyline standpoint that they’ll book it to maintain the status quo and keep moving forward. That makes sense, but if you’ve followed pro wrestling–and particularly the WWE–for awhile you know full well that the logical approach isn’t always the way that Vince McMahon and his cohorts want to go. A card full of ‘swerves’ might not serve the long term best interests of the WWE and the RAW brand but that hasn’t stopped them from ‘overbooking’ PPVs in the past.

Here’s the odds for every match on the ‘No Mercy 2017’ card along with a nice assortment of prop bets related to Dave Meltzer/The Wrestling Observer’s star ratings:
