‘Survivor: Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers’ Season 35 Episode 1 Betting Odds

–’Survivor: Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers’ Episode 1 airs on Wednesday, September 27 at 8:00 PM Eastern.
The month of September will be a big one for fans of reality television as three of the most popular shows in the genre will premiere new seasons. On September 18, ‘Dancing with the Stars’ returns for its 25th season. On September 25 it will be ‘The Voice’ beginning it’s 13th season and on September 27 it’s the show that started the genre aka ‘Survivor’ entering it’s 35th season. They’re back in the Fiji Islands and as has been the case in recent years they’ve got a ‘theme’–the proper name of Season 35 is ‘Survivor: Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers’ and the three tribes are divided accordingly. As for the rationale behind these teams and their nomenclature we’ll defer to ‘Survivor’ impresario Jeff Probst who was recently interviewed by ‘The Hollywood Reporter’:
Whenever possible, we go into casting with an open slate. I can’t emphasize [enough] how risky that is and how scary that is. The calendar is clicking every day. Every day, you’re getting closer to shooting. You need to know your theme, because you want to know, “What stories are we going to tell?” But we don’t like to go looking for people. We just like to find the best group. About halfway through, we had a football hero, a doctor, a nurse practitioner, a bellhop and a fisher. I just kept looking at the cards and trying to figure out what it was, and “healer” was the word that really broke it. You could see “heroes,” and you could see “hustlers.” Finding the “h” word, that came later. “Healers” was the one that broke it. We pitched it to CBS, but they wanted the name to ring. You go, “Oh, god. OK. I get it.” Once we finally went, “Heroes and Healers and Hustlers,” then we had it.
The only hiccup that I think anyone had is there’s another connotation to “Hustlers,” which is that you’re a con man. My pitch to CBS was, “People might think that until we explain that that’s not the case. This guy is an entrepreneur, this guy is a bellhop, she’s a third-generation fisher person, she’s a personal assistant. These are people who hustle. They get it done.” In a sense, as I said today, they’re actually the closest to the personification of what a Survivor player has to do. You have to hustle. If you don’t get it done, you don’t eat. I’m really curious to see heroes, who are used to being put on a pedestal because you served our country or because you’re an athlete or because you broke the glass ceiling as a woman in business, and healers who put everybody first, and hustlers who say they don’t know how to get it done but they show up at 8 and they get it done … I’m really curious to watch those three groups play.
Thankfully, the tribes won’t be called ‘Heroes’, ‘Hustlers’ and ‘Healers’–they’ll have properly Survivor-esque team names broken down accordingly: Levu Tribe (Heroes), Yawa Tribe (Hustlers) and Soko Tribe (Healers). Other than these arbitrary designations the cast looks like a typical ‘Survivor’ group–they’re primarily in their late 20’s and 30’s though the actual age range goes from a low of 23 to a high of 46. There’s the usual assortment of buff athletic dudes and chicks you’d like to see naked complete with multi-ethnic inclusions to break up what would overwise be overbearing whiteness. There’s a couple of geeky guys and a couple of housewife looking women. And, of course, there’s a ‘Cowboy Hat Guy’. I don’t think it’s required for every reality show to have a ‘Cowboy Hat Guy’ but it sure seems like it. Since the infamous Richard Hatch aka ‘The Naked Guy’ won the first season of ‘Survivor’ there have been a total of 34 winners with 20 men and 14 women claiming the prize though the last six seasons have seen gender parity with a 3-3 tie in the ‘battle of the sexes’.

As you’d expect, it’s tough to set numbers based on little more than CBS press releases and promo photos. In other words, you can expect some major changes in the prices as the first two or three episodes air:
