Donald Trump Presidential Betting Odds for May 19, 2017

After a few quiet weeks in the Trump Presidency it’s been ‘mayhem as usual’ of late. The real firestorm of controversy began with the firing of FBI Director James Comey in early May. There have been allegations that Trump wanted Comey to shut down the investigation of former National Security Director Michael Flynn. The White House has denied this report and maintained that Comey was fired to his bungling of the Hillary Clinton ‘private email server’ fiasco. Whatever the reason, Trump was happy to see him go and told sources in Russia that Comey was ‘a real nut job’.

All of this has revived impeachment talk though at this point it remains pure speculation. Trump’s poll numbers took a hit over the last week but not as much of one as you might think. Based on the average polling at Real Clear Politics his disapproval ratings is at 54.7%. It’s the highest of his presidency but that number has vacillated between 44% and 54% since he was inaugurated. His approval rating is 39.7 percent which is essentially the same as his April 4 approval rating of 39.8 percent. Trump’s approval rating has been in an even narrower band, ranging from 39.7% to 45%.

Given the nature of Trump’s appeal to his supporters that’s not surprising. He’s got a ‘core constituency’ that doesn’t flip out over whatever his political opponents are outraged over on a given day. His disapproval numbers are slightly more fluid but they likely go up when the left gets some kind of traction with their never relenting tirade against Trump. When that happens, less motivated ‘true believers’ come in off the sidelines to rail against Trump but leave once an issue starts to lose momentum. These tendencies will likely continue throughout Trump’s Presidency and it will take an extremely serious crisis to significantly erode his support base.

The events of the past several weeks have necessitated some revision in our Donald Trump Presidential betting odds. The team at SPORTS BETTING EXPERTS has updated the odds for his tenure in office, whether or not he’ll be impeached and his prospects for a second term. We’ve also considered his staff examining the next person to quit or get fired, the next FBI Director and even the next Trump Supreme Court appointee.
