‘Celebrity Big Brother’ Betting Odds Episode 6

–This is the first season of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ produced for the US market.

–’Big Brother’ is a spin-off of a Dutch TV series of the same name.

–Episode 6 of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ will air February 14 on CBS TV with Episode 7 on February 16. Both episodes will begin at 8 PM Eastern.

We’ll get to the Episode 5 elimination on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ in a moment but the big story coming out of Monday’s show is–surprise, surprise–Omarosa. The former Trump White House staffer who recently shed her last name to become more celebrity like cut a massive promo on Vice President Mike Pence that has the ‘legitimate’ news media all aflutter. Needless to say, your opinion of Omarosa’s promo on Pence might have a lot to do with how completely you buy in to the US political duopoly in general and your fondness for one party or another in particular. In a discussion about a potential Trump impeachment Omarosa brings up the very salient point that for all of ‘The Donald’s’ bluster there’s a legitimate nut waiting in the wings:

“As bad as Trump is, you’d be worried about Pence. We would be begging for the days of Trump back if Pence became president. He thinks Jesus is telling him to say things. I’m like, ‘Jesus isn’t saying that.’ It’s scary.”

Personally, I don’t see much to quibble with there. Expect the usual suspects on the right to gripe about this for a few days while the usual suspects on the left chortle about it. The majority of people, meanwhile, no longer buy into the partisan political nonsense at all.

SO WHAT ELSE HAPPENED IN EPISODE FIVE?

Omarosa lives to fight another day! It was sort of bizarre how it happened–Omarosa and Keshia Knight Pulliam were nominated for elimination but when it came time to vote things didn’t go according to script. Keisha plays the ‘homesick’ card and begs to be sent home to her daughter urging her housemates to “Please use whatever ounce of compassion you have to send me home.” Omarosa pipes up and urges the rest of the crew to grant Keisha’s request and just like that she’s on her way home via unanimous vote.

But back to Omarosa for a moment–the Pence promo is not only right on the money but a great tactical move. She came into the show being seen as something of a Trump proxy and in this crowd at least that’s not a good thing. She’s emphatically distanced herself from the current Presidential administration which not only puts her in a more advantageous position in her current contest but positions her nicely for more media opportunities going forward. She’s gone from having the taint of a former Trump associate to being an emphatic critic of the President in just a couple of weeks.
