10 Weird Things Thrown Onto Sports Fields

Sports fans sometimes show their displeasure by throwing things onto the field.

This is nothing out of the ordinary if they’re throwing popcorn, cups, or paper.

But some fans get pretty inventive with what they chuck at sports games.

1. Dynamo Dresden Fan Tosses Severed Bull’s Head

Our no. 1 strangest object is not only weird, but also gross. Dynamo Dresden (Germany’s Bundesliga soccer) fans thew a severed bull’s head onto the stadium ground.

2. Buffalo Bills Fans Throw a Sex Toy

Tried of seeing their Bills lose yet another game to New England, a Buffalo fan chucked a dildo near the end zone.

As you can see, neither the players nor refs were in a hurry to remove the sex toy from the field.

3. Hand Grenade Thrown at Griffin Park (London)

During a 1965 match at Brenford’s Griffin Park, a fan threw a hand grenade onto the field.

Goalkeeper Chic Brodie, who lived through World War II, wasn’t phased as he picked the grenade up and tossed it back towards his own goal. Luckily, the grenade turned out to be just a dummy.

4. Tiger Woods and the Hurled Hot Dog

During a 2009 PGA event, Tiger Woods was putting, when a man ran onto the course and threw a hot dog at him.

5. 14,361 Teddy Bears on the Ice

Following in the tradition of minor league hockey, the Portland Winterhawks had a promotion where fans were encouraged to throw teddy bears onto the ice after made goals.

Thanks to their large support, the Winterhawks’ cleanup crew had lots of work when 14,361 teddy bears were chucked onto the ice.

6.Pig’s Head Tossed at Real Madrid’s Luis Figo

After starring for Barcelona for 5 years, Luis Figo signed with rival Real Madrid in 2000. He was given a very chilly reception upon his return to Barcelon’s Nou Camp stadium.

Fans thew coins, bottles, and even a pig’s head as Figo took a corner kick.

7. San Jose Fans Toss a Shark on the Ice

A San Jose shark fan decided to live up to the team’s nickname by throwing an actual shark onto the ice.

The cherry on top is that it came right after center Joe Pavelski scored a goal.

8. Red Sox Fan Pelted with Pizza

Most objects thrown by fans are aimed at players, or just the field in general. But after a fan interfered with a Boston Red Sox player catching a foul ball, another fan threw pizza at him.

The pizza thrower was ejected, but at least he was showing support for his team.

9. Rat Thrown On Court during 76ers, Jazz Game

In 2002, with the Philadelphia 76ers taking on the Utah Jazz, a Jazz fan threw a rat onto the court.

Allen Iverson was shooting a free throw during the event, but he didn’t seem to be bothered.

10. Boston College Fan Throws Fake Penalty Flag

Wouldn’t every football fan love to throw their own penalty flags when they think there’s been a missed call? One Boston College fan put this theory to the test by hurling a penalty flag at a Virginia Tech defender.

The player was confused and thought that he really got called for pass interference, while the ESPN announcers were also fooled.
