Top 10 DeMarcus Cousins WTF Moments

Since entering the NBA in 2010, DeMarcus Cousins has been one of the league’s most-talented players.

He’s averaged over 20 points and 10 rebounds in his 7-year career, while proving a threat from both the post and perimeter.

But if there’s one downfall to “Boogie,” besides playing on the miserable Kings, it’s that he can’t control his temper.

Any time that Cousins is on the floor, there’s always the potential for technicals, hard fouls, and shoves.

Below you can see some of Cousins’ finest WTF moments in the NBA.

1. “This Is Ridiculous” Rant

Following a 2016 game against the Portland Trail Blazers, where Cousins scored 55 points, he went on a rant about officials and the Blazers’ Meyers Leonard.

To put context behind this, Leonard and Cousins have a lengthy feud, and the latter’s mouthpiece flew out when he was yelling at Leonard on the Portland bench. Cousins was ejected, then unejected after the flying mouthpiece.

This has to be a record for most times saying “ridiculous” in a post-game interview:

2. Boogie Goes Off on Sacramento Bee Reporter

Sacramento Bee reporter Andy Furillo wrote an unflattering piece about DeMarcus Cousins after he and friend/former teammate Matt Barnes were involved in a 2016 New York nightclub incident. You can read about this in Matt Barnes’ WTF moments.

Furillo also mentioned another incident in Tampa, where Cousins’ brother, Jaleel, got tased and arrested, while friends snuck DeMarcus out so he could avoid being implicated.

As you can see below, Cousins didn’t agree with the story:

3. Cousins Yells at George Karl During Timeout

Boogie and George Karl didn’t have the greatest relationship during Karl’s 112 games spent coaching Sacramento. This heated timeout conversation is a perfect example of why.

4. Cousins Confronts Spurs Commentator Sean Elliott

During a 2012 game against the San Antonio Spurs, color commentator Sean Elliot said that Cousins was trying to bully Tim Duncan (see highlights below).

Cousins heard about the comments and waited for Elliot on the court after the game. They had an animated conversation where Elliot eventually walked away and Cousins continued to follow him while yelling. The result was a two-game suspension for the big man.

5. Cousins Throws Marcus Smart Down

Playing the Boston Celtics in 2014, Cousins took exception to a hard box-out by Marcus Smart. This led Boogie to toss Smart to the floor like a rag doll

6. Punching Patrick Beverley in the Stomach

It’s unclear what all led to this (does Cousins need a reason?), but you can see Boogie send a jab to Patrick Beverley’s stomach here.

7. Intentionally Nailing Chris Paul with the Ball

Late in a Clippers blowout over the Kings, Chris Paul went for a steal after Cousins rebounded the ball. Boogie didn’t like this and spiked the ball off of Paul’s head.

8. Cousins Nearly Punches Steven Adams

Cousins never seems to be in a good mood when his team is getting blown out. With the Oklahoma City Thunder up by a comfortable margin, Cousins and Steven Adams got tangled up under the basket.

It looked like an honest mistake by Adams, but Cousins was ready to throw a blow.

9. Loses Temper and Gets Ejected Against Warriors

In a close game against the Golden State Warriors, Cousins became enraged when an official called a technical foul against him.

He not only pointed his finger in the official’s face, but also threw a temper tantrum on his way off the court.

10. Cousins Gets Chippy with Andrew Bogut

DeMarcus Cousins has trouble staying out of foul trouble, and this clip shows why.
