‘Survivor: Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers’ Season 35 Episode 12 Betting Odds

–This is the 35th season for CBS’s reality show.

–’Survivor’ was one of the early pioneers of the reality TV genre.

–’Survivor: Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers’ Episode 9 airs on Wednesday, November 22 at 8:00 PM Eastern.

So I go away for Thanksgiving and all of a sudden there are three fewer ‘Survivor’ contestants than there were when I left. Cole Medders was eliminated in Episode 9 (air date Wednesday, November 22) with two more contestants biting the dust in Episodes 10 and 11 (air date Wednesday, November 29) as John ‘JP’ Hilsabeck and Joe Mena were sent packing. That means we’ve got some serious upheaval in the betting odds. Ryan Ulrich entered our Week 9 ‘Survivor’ odds rundown as a +225 favorite to win Season 35. He’s now in a three way tie with Ben Driebergen and Mike Zahelsky for ‘biggest longshot’ to win at +2500. Lauren Rimmer spent most of the first half of Season 35 as one of the biggest longshots on our betting board. As recently as Week 6 she was a +3500 co-longshot to win and a +350 co-second favorite to be the ‘Next Eliminated’. She’s now a +125 favorite to win. The other top two choices to win Season 35–Ashley Nolan at +200 and Devon Pinto at +250 were also +3500 longshots to win in Week 6. Whether this was a conscious strategy on the part of the three favorites or not there’s much to be said for ‘keeping a low profile’ in the early going and letting the more ‘ambitious’ contestants take each other out of the running.

THE ‘SAUSAGE FEST’ IS A CRISIS NO MORE

For some reason, there are still reality TV fans that suggest the entire thing is on the ‘up and up’. No matter how much I insist that the producers pay close attention to the ‘meta game’ of creating a (hopefully) entertaining television product there are naive viewers that don’t believe me suggesting that once they set the events in motion the results are out of their hands.

That makes it tough to explain how the ‘sausage fest’ situation we’ve been discussing for the past several weeks took care of itself in the span of two weeks. When we entered Week 9 there were 11 contestants left in the field–7 men and 3 women. Now we have 7 contestants left–4 men and 3 women. You do the math.
