‘Project Runway’ Season 16 Episode 6 Betting Odds

–’Project Runway’ will feature a wide array of models this year ranging in size from 0 to 22.

–’Project Runway’ has already been renewed for two more seasons after this one.

–Episode 5 of ‘Project Runway’ Season 16 will air on September 21, 2017 at 8:00 PM Eastern on the Lifetime Network

Aaron Myers was put out of his misery by being eliminated in Episode 5 of ‘Project Runway’. He was a co-second favorite to be sent packing with Amy Bond at +350 right behind our top choice–Samantha Rei–at +325. You’ll recall that Rei reportedly has had ‘about 10 seconds of screen time’ all season and you don’t have to be a ‘genius like Norman Einstein‘ to realize that isn’t a good sign. She also had another ‘Low’ (bottom three) design in Week 5 and since Aaron Meyers was eliminated and Claire Buitendorp we can safely surmise that she had the third worst design. That was her second ‘Low’ of the season with no ‘High’ (top three) designs to compensate for that.

The much maligned Shawn Buitendorp, meanwhile, was safely ‘In’ to the next round with her design. Her sister Claire was one of the ‘final two’ facing elimination but some ‘Project Runway’ aficionados have suggested that she didn’t deserve to be in that situation:

Claire (you know, with the hair) found herself in the bottom three this week, alongside Samantha (whose look was called “just ugly” by judge Zac Posen) and Aaron (whose streamer-riddled mess of an outfit led to his elimination). As we all know by now, the twins aren’t ones to stay quiet, so it came as no surprise that Claire had some choice words for the judges after being told that she was still in.

“I am not going to grovel and say, ‘Oh thank you, thank you, thank you, I’ll do better next week,’” she said during her post-runway confessional. “I don’t believe I deserved to be there in the first place.” And you know what? Neither do I.

I’ll reiterate what I said last week–the more that the Buitendorp twins become ‘heels’ and the targets of viewer scorn the more likely they are to hang around. At least for awhile. Consider this quote from the TVLine.com episode recap:

And how is it that the twins manage to become more obnoxious as the weeks go by? “Everyone’s kind of annoyed,” Margarita said while Claire and Shawn squawked at each other from across the workroom, adding that “it’s not fair” how much they help each other. As Deyonté noted, “I wish I had an extra set of hands.”

THIS IS YOUR WAKE-UP CALL…I’M AN F-B-I AGENT!

If you recognized the heading as a quote from Keanu Reeves as ‘Johnny Utah’ in the classic film ‘Point Break’ go to the head of the class. This is apropos of nothing but in the process of researching ‘Project Runway’ this week I came across an amazing Tim Gunn story. Gunn’s dad was an FBI agent for over 25 years and at one point young Timmy got to meet infamous agency director J.Edgar Hoover. Hoover, it has become known, had a predilection for cross dressing. You guessed it–Tim Gunn met J. Edgar Hoover while he was dressed as a woman. But not just *any* woman….:

“Have you heard my crazy story? Just briefly, my sister and I were big ‘I Love Lucy’ fans,” Gunn explained. “And we would visit dad and take the big FBI tour once a year, it was a Washington thing. One day dad said, ‘Would you like to meet Vivian Vance?’”

“Ethel Mertz!” Gunn said mentioning Vance’s character on the popular TV show. “Who wouldn’t want to meet Vivian Vance? That’s Ethel Mertz. So we went into Hoover’s office and we met her, and she was gracious and wonderful. And, many years later and my father was gone, a lot came out about Hoover cross-dressing. ”

The video of Gunn describing the experience is well worth watching.

Here’s the updated numbers for Week 6 of ‘Project Runway’ along with some new prop bets. The plot synopsis from LIFETIME describes Episode 6 as follows: “The models become much more than runway eye candy as they serve for inspiration to the designers to create a street style look, to be featured in a photo shoot. But ceding creative control to the models proves to be a difficult chore for some designers.”
