‘Pick The Player’ Super Bowl Proposition Bets

–The Super Bowl is the biggest day of the year for North American sports betting.

–Prop bets are now the biggest part of the Super Bowl weekend ‘handle’ at sports books.

–These ‘pick the player’ props are popular due to the potential for a big return on investment.

These propositions are often called ‘contest style props’ but I like to call them ‘pick the player’ props. These are fairly self explanatory–the bettor is asked to pick the player that will do something first, last or best. Players are assigned odds based on the likelihood of completing their designated tasks. For example, Julio Jones is considered the favorite to score the first touchdown of the game for the Atlanta Falcons and is priced at +350. A $100 player will collect $350 in profit if he wagers on Jones and he scores the Falcons’ first TD. If a player bets on Matt Ryan to score the first touchdown for Atlanta at +1000 and he crosses the goalline on a ‘quarterback keeper’ the same $100 player pockets a cool $1000 in profit.
