SWEET SIXTEEN STORYLINES

Here are the main storylines–top seeded Villanova was sent packing by Wisconsin but the other three #1 seeded teams remain (North Carolina, Gonzaga, Kansas). It’s been a tough tournament for the ACC long considered to be the country’s premier basketball conference. 9 ACC teams made the NCAA tournament field but only one is left (North Carolina). It’s no secret that the NCAA selection committee gives preferential treatment to the ACC and as long as that’s the case there will be years like this.

The ACC may be struggling but don’t think that the era of power conference dominance is over. The Big 10, the Big 12, the Pac-12 and the SEC all have three teams in the Sweet Sixteen. Twelve of the remaining teams are from the top four regional seeds with four from seeds 5 through 8. The lowest-seeded team left in the tournament is the #11 seeded Xavier Musketeers. They’re joined by lower half seeds Wisconsin (#8), South Carolina (#7) and Michigan #7.

Here’s the SPORTS BETTING EXPERTS NCAA Tournament/Sweet Sixteen proposition betting odds. Some of these look ahead to the Final Four but we’ll be back before then with even more NCAA basketball props:
