Linesmakers Post Betting Odds on Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie Divorce

It’s been a rough year for celebrity marriages with two of the biggest biting the dust. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s marriage was almost weekly fodder for tabloid newspapers and gossip columns and now their separation and divorce is gaining the same level of attention.

Jolie filed for divorce earlier this month, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’. In a very vague-yet-accusatory statement she suggested that Pitt had left her with no other choice and that she was ending the marriage for ‘the health of the family’. Pitt and Jolie have six children including three adopted internationally. Jolie hasn’t said much (yet) but the celebrity media has suggested that Pitt’s transgretions run the gamut from ‘bad parenting’ to ‘substance abuse’ to an ‘affair with French actress Marion Cotillard’. The actor has denied all of these accusations.

Hollywood is a very ‘incestuous’ place so it’s not surprising that Jolie’s divorce attorney, Laura Wasser, has plenty of pedigree among film industry movers and shakers. She represented another ‘A Lister’ in a recent divorce when Johnny Depp split from actress/model Amber Heard earlier this year. After an acrimonious split with accusations of ‘verbal and physical abuse’ Depp paid his ex-wife $7 million to go away–after which she made statements retracting many of her previous accusations. Funny how these things work out. Now Wasser will move from ‘defense’ to ‘offense’ and go after Pitt like a rabid wolverine in hopes of getting him to scratch out a bigger check to his soon-to-be ex wife than Depp did for Heard.

The sum total is that Hollywood has two eligible bachelors ‘on the market’ and their personal life has become a subject of international interest. For that reason, we’ve got some betting odds on when they’ll marry again. Brad Pitt has only been married twice, both to very high profile actresses–prior to Jolie he was married to perky ‘Friends’ star Jennifer Aniston for five years. Depp seems to be more of the ‘marrying kind’ based on his long track record of serious relationships but despite partnerships of varying degrees with Jennifer Gray, Sherilyn Fenn, Winona Rider, Kate Moss and Vanessa Paradis he’s only been married twice–in the early 1980’s to Lori Anne Allison and to Heard.
