Hell’s Kitchen Season 17 with Gordon Ramsey Episode 11 Betting Odds

–’Hell’s Kitchen’ hosted by Chef Gordon Ramsay is entering it’s 17th season on Fox.

–The season 17 winner will become head chef at the new Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen Restaurant at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas.

–Episode 11 of ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ Season 17 will air on January 5, 2018 at 8:00 PM Eastern on Fox

One thing that I’ve had a hard time understanding as I watch and handicap ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ this season has been the constant bickering of the Red Team. Obviously, when strong personalities work together there’s bound to be some disagreement but in most episodes the Red Team is constantly whining and talking behind each other’s back outside of the kitchen. Even more problematic is the constant screaming at each other–or as Chef Ramsey termed it a “fight and bitch fest“.

Keep in mind this is an All Star season so all of the contestants have been down this road before and presumably know what they need to do (and not do) to get over with Chef Ramsey. Beyond that, they’ve all worked in kitchens and have had some measure of professional success. So why is the Red Team such a train wreck (Chef Ramsey used the term ‘fragmented’)? Is it a bit? Are the Red Team-ers really incapable of keeping their personal animosity in check long enough to put together a competent meal? Even McDonald’s employees know not to argue with co-workers in front of customers. Are they hamming it up for TV? There’s plenty of people who don’t get along with their co-workers at every level of vocational endeavor. Even so, they manage to maintain enough control and professionalism to get a job done. This ethos is as important in a professional kitchen as anywhere, if not more so.

In all fairness, much can be done in the editing room to change the tenor of a reality show. And as I’ve said in the past, contestants that are ‘quietly competent’ don’t make for good television. That being said, the Red Team’s antics have been beyond the pale. I’ve wondered at times if it is a ‘work’ (that’s a pro wrestling term referring to anything with a predetermined outcome) and the Red Team-ers have been instructed to act in a way that makes Lucy and Ethel in the classic ‘candy factory’ shtick look like Joel Robuchon by comparison. In any case, Chef Ramsey ended the show with a terse warning for the “Red Team, get it together” and putting the Blue Team over.

BARBIE MARSHALL OUT, SHAKE UP IN SEASON 17 ‘TO WIN’ ODDS

Barbie Marshall got eliminated in Week 10 as our +200 favorite to receive Chef Ramsey’s coup de grace. She was narrowly favored over Michelle Tribble and Elise Harris both priced at +300. Hard to add much to BuddyTV’s recap of the Red Team’s sinking ship:

We quickly go from Elise and Michelle arguing over Elise’s course to Barbie jumping in and making the conversation about her and her course. From here, Michelle re-enters the argument when she denies having told Barbie that she couldn’t help with garnish because she was helping Dana. Elise leaves the room still heated and mouthing off to the Blue Team. Jennifer has had enough and follows her. Now she and Elise are cackling in front of everyone. Honestly, how many more episodes of this can we take?

It’s finally time for elimination and Jennifer presents Barbie and Elise for Ramsay. Barbie mouths off about Michelle while Elise states why she deserves to stay. Ramsay is more shocked about how “fragmented” the team is. So, who is the worst piece of this ridiculous puzzle?

Since it was ‘Charity Night’ on ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ it was almost obligatory for Chef Ramsey to riff on that as he sent Barbie home:

“Barbie’s performance at charity night was a disaster, so I performed a charity act for her team by sending her home.”

Nick Peters Bond and Milly Medley are the favorites–they’re the most consistent of the Blue Team members. Dana Cohen was our initial ‘to win’ favorite and she hasn’t so much done anything wrong as she hasn’t done much other than ‘maintain’. With several other contestants showing improvement that’s not going to get it done no matter how good you look in a bikini. At this point, Dana has the advantage of looking like the most consistently competent member of the red team. And thinking on more of a ‘meta’ level, she’s got the persona of a chef that would fit perfectly in Ramsey’s Las Vegas property.

Here are the odds to win the overall Season 17 competition along with odds for Episode Eleven. Note that Episode 11 won’t air until after Christmas and is scheduled for January 5, 2018:
