2018 FIDE Candidates Tournament Round 8 Chess Betting Odds

–Chess is a surprisingly popular game among bettors–particularly in Europe.

–Magnus Carlsen is the reigning World Champion, a title he’s held since 2013.

–The seventh round of the FIDE Candidates Tournament to select the next World Championship challenger will take place on Sunday, March 18

The second half of the 2018 FIDE Candidates Tournament is underway and at the moment it’s a two man competition. Fabiano Caruana beat Levon Aronian who was in a veritable ‘must win’ situation. It’s been a horrible tournament for Aronian who entered this event as the favorite. Shakhriyar Mamedyarov settled for a draw in his game against Alexander Grischuk. That leaves Caruana in sole possession of first place with Mamedyarov 1/2 point behind. Ding Liren, Alexander Grischuk and Vladimir Kramnik are in the next tier of competitors with 3.5 points. Unless Caruana suffers a meltdown he looks to be in control of the tournament.
